How Very Pinteresting!

I’ve gone through the digital rite of passage that officially makes me a girl in this modern age - I’ve joined Pinterest! Oh, what a delicious kingdom has been opened up to me. I’m discovering new recipes and some really cool food blogs, so I thought I’d take a moment to share two of my favorites from this month.

The first comes from Playing With Sugar, but don’t let the name fool you - Stacy’s recipe for french fries is salty, cheesy and herby. And don’t let the word “fries” fool you either - these suckers are oven-baked and absolutely fantastic. And the smell when they’re baking…oh…the smell. I highly recommend her recipe, which you can find here

The next recipe comes courtesy of Savoring Time in the Kitchen. I’m a big supporter of cucumbers. I agree with their platform of crunchiness and coolness. I vote for them repeatedly in the summertime. But I’ve never figured out a way to keep them snappy and cool in my fridge. Susan at Savoring Time in the Kitchen has cracked it. She places cucumbers in a jar with onions, white vinegar, sugar and a bit of salt. What you get is a slightly sweet, crisp accompaniment to any salad, rice or meat dish. I’ve already gone through 2 jars of the mix - I can’t get enough of it, especially in the heat wave we’ve been experiencing in Los Angeles. To find her full recipe, you can go here. I’ll be making this one over and over again.
